Arts Council organizes bus
trip to Nasher Museum
A chartered bus will transport Wilson patrons to the Nasher Museum of Art in
Durham on Thursday, November 5, to view the “Picassand the Allure of Language
exhibit”. The cost of the trip is $35 for Arts Council Contributors and $40 for
non contributors.
Pablo Picasso’s abstract paintings and sculptures made him one of the most
famous artists of the 20th century. But a new exhibition makes the case that
there’s more to learn about him – surprisingly, how the written word influenced
his very visual art.
Yale University Art Gallery curator Susan Fisher has selected about 60 works in
all media, along with photographs, letters, manuscripts and book projects by the
writers and artists in Picasso’s circle, covering his life from age 19 to four
years before he died at age 91 in 1969.
Bus tour from Wilson will leave precisely at 9:30a.m. from the parking lot of
the bus station on Goldsboro Street. Parking is available. There is room for 30
people to have lunch in a beautiful private dining room, then have a docent led
tour. The group will return at 4:30pm.
Ticket prices are $35 for Arts Council contributors and $40 for non
contributors. This price includes transportation, entrance and tour. Lunch will
be paid individually on the day of the tour. Deadline to sign up is October 8,
2009. Call the Arts Council at (252) 291-4329 to reserve your seat today!
