Important Camp Info for Parents

  • Lunch Bunch: Attending both morning and afternoon sessions? We offer childcare from 12:00–1:00 PM for $25 per child for the week. Lunch is not included—please send your child with a lunch and drink. Look for "Lunch Bunch" on the registration form to sign up.
  • Chill Deal: Offered for weeks that performing arts camps end at 3:00 PM but parents/guardians need extra time or if they have siblings with camps at the Wilson Arts Center that won't end until 4:00 p.m.

Note: All camp registrations and ticket sales are final. Refunds are only issued if Wilson Arts cancels the event.

FUNKY FLOUR POWER #1 Beginning Baking with Nicole Thomas

Calling all budding food artists!  Back again this year is one of our most popular camps ever – Flour Power! Campers will learn basic baking techniques and explore different decorating applications with instruction from local cookie artist extraordinaire, Nicole Thomas of Cole Cole’s Cupcakes & Confections. (NOTE: This camp is for beginners)

CHEER FOR ART with Kemiyah Taylor (with Tiara Taylor)
Time:  9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Ages: 5-10
Location: Wilson Arts Center

Ready? Ok!! This camp is for kids looking to get their cheer on! Instructor Kemiyah Taylor will lead campers through basic steps of cheerleading, create spirit-inspired artwork using a variety of mediums, and bust a move with afternoon dance parties! This camp is for beginners and great for kids who like to create while being active!

THE BIG ONE-OH! JR.
Time:  9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Ages: 9-12

Charley Maplewood has never been one for parties – that would require friends, which he doesn’t have. Well, unless you count his monster friends, but they’re only imaginary. But now that he’s turning ten—the big one-oh—he decides to throw a birthday party for himself, complete with a “House of Horrors” theme. Of course, things don’t work out as he plans. Will Charley be able to pull it together before the big one-oh . . . becomes the big OH-NO!?

Based on the beloved book, The Big One-Oh! JR. features lyrics by Academy Award-winner (Fame, Footloose) Dean Pitchford, the author of the novel; music by three-time Tony-winner Doug Besterman (The Producers, Fosse, Elf, Young Frankenstein), and a book by iTheatric's award-winning playwright Timothy Allen McDonald (Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, James and the Giant Peach).

MY ARTISTIC SELF with Tiara Taylor

In this creative journey led by Wilson Arts staff member and educator Tiara Taylor, our campers will find their own artistic voice by investigating different creative mediums each day – everything from origami and collage to painting and jewelry making!  This would be a perfect camp for those who may be new to exploring the creative process – there’s a little bit of everything to try!

ONCE UPON A FAIRY TALE

ARTISTS' PLAYGROUND with Maddie Murphy

Does an afternoon of drawing & painting sound like music to your ears? Then this is the camp for you! Join artist Maddie Murphy for some fun & creative instruction in drawing techniques and playful painting. This camp is great for beginners wanting to try different mediums, as well as more experienced artists looking to learn something new!

STEAM Camp Package (Ages 6-14)

In the mornings explore ANCIENT ENGINEERING from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Imagination Station. Imagine a world with no trucks, cranes, or phones during Ancient Engineering STEM camp this summer. How did humans survive the stone age? When did Romans get running water into cities? Why did engineers in India build catapults? Join us in teams as we explore these fascinating topics and use simple tools to come up with creative solutions to timeless challenges!

Staff will then bring students over to the Wilson Arts Center for Lunch Bunch from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. Students will need to bring their own lunch and drink.

In the afternoons:
Younger students (ages 6-7) will head to the Boykin Center for ONCE UPON A FAIRYTALE from 1-4 p.m.
where campers will become their favorite storybook characters and create an adventure onstage.

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, JR.

A Broadway Junior adaptation of the Tony-winning musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving satire of the Golden Age musical, featuring hysterical numbers and colorful characters.

A man shares with the audience his favorite record - the 1928 musical The Drowsy Chaperone. As he plays the record, the show comes to life in his apartment. Mix in two lovebirds on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and a sleepy chaperone, and you have the ingredients for a show that will have everyone laughing.

Do you have a creative kid who loves to paint, draw, and have a blast experimenting with art techniques? Instructor and artist Carmen Bartlett teaches the fundamentals of art while encouraging each child’s creativity. Campers will be introduced to some of the master’s to expose them to different styles, and then will create their OWN masterpieces to take home!

IMPROV #1

Use your creativity in this active, fast-paced introduction to improv. You’ll practice the foundations of improv and build inventive storylines with scene partners, plus learn to think on your feet and make bold choices in a supportive ensemble.

IMAGINE IT. SCULPT IT. with Ash Hayford
Time:  1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Ages: 8-18
Location: Wilson Arts Center

Artist and arts educator Ash Hayford will take kids on a 3-D creative journey through different types of materials used in sculpture creation, including air clay, papier-mâché, and forming recycled materials into works of imaginative art.  If you can imagine it, you can build it!

STEAM Camp Package (Ages 8-14)

THE MUSICAL ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY, JR.

And now, everyone's favorite two-dimensional hero has a new life in The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley JR. Filled with infectious songs and non-stop adventure, Flat Stanley JR. is a perfect show to introduce young performers to the magic of live theatre.

Stanley Lambchop is your ordinary, everyday ten-year-old until the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose and falls right on top of him. The next morning, Stanley wakes up flat. In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley — the ultimate exchange student — scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem. He's stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood and France to Honolulu and beyond, all in an effort to become a three-dimensional boy once more.

IMPROV #2

Create on the spot in this active introduction to improv. You’ll start with the foundations and build on those ideas with your scene partners — going further together than you ever could alone. Overcome stage fright and release any fear of failure as you explore the realm of infinite possibility.

CREATING A CHARACTER
Time
:  1 - 4 p.m.
Ages: 12-14
Location: Boykin Center

Invent and play while devising and embodying characters. Learn to make strong choices through stage presence, active listening and engaged body movement, plus develop your physical acting skills.


 

IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION

  • Online Registration: Submit forms online with secure payment via Square. Member discounts are available for 2025 contributors—ensure your contribution is current before selecting the discount price.
  • Eligibility: Campers MUST meet the specified age range for each camp.
  • Registration: To secure a spot, complete the Registration and Health/Permission forms and submit with payment. Spots cannot be held without payment.
  • Payment & Refunds: Full payment is required at registration. No refunds for participant cancellations. Registration closes 10 days before camp starts.
  • Cancellations: Camps may be canceled due to low enrollment. Notification will be sent by the Tuesday before the camp's start. Full refunds or credits are issued only if Wilson Arts cancels.
  • Scholarships: Available based on financial need. Apply online at Wilson Arts Scholarship Application or pick up a form at Wilson Arts. Submit applications at least two weeks before camp starts.
  • Check-In & Pick-Up:
    • Check-in begins 15 minutes before camp start time (8:45 AM for morning camps, 12:45 PM for afternoon camps).
    • Accompany your child inside to sign them in.
    • Authorized individuals must sign out campers at pick-up. Late pick-ups (30+ minutes) incur a $10 fee.
  • Snacks & Lunches:
    • Full-day performing arts campers must bring snacks, lunch, and drinks.
    • Campers attending two half-day camps (a 9 AM and 1 PM camp in the same week) can register for the Lunch Bunch option for lunchtime childcare.
