For this contest, you will need to wear a medieval/renaissance themed costume. The costume may be thematically based on historical realism or fantasy. Costume pieces may be created, purchased, or assembled from a mixture of both. Costumes will be judged by a panel of judges who will rank their top three favorites, and winners will be determined by these rankings.
There is not an entry fee required to participate in this contest, but you must be a ticket holder for the Wilson Renaissance Faire on Friday, March 10th either with a day or weekend pass.

2:00 p.m. Shakespearean Monologue Contest

Contestants should arrive at 1:30pm for check-in. Meet at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Stage
Two groups of contestants will be 15-20 years old, and 21+ (People under the age of 15 are not eligible to participate.)
1st prize – $150 cash. 2nd prize – $75 cash. 3rd prize – $50 cash.
You may choose any Shakespearean monologue to perform, but the performance must not last longer than 4 minutes. There is no entry fee required for this competition, but you must be a Wilson Renaissance Faire ticket holder for Saturday, March 11th or a weekend pass holder to participate.

2:00 p.m. STEAM Catapult Challenge
Contestants should arrive at 1:30pm for check-in. Meet at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Pavillion
This is an all-ages challenge, fun for clubs, classes, families, groups, or individuals.
1st prize – $200 cash. 2nd prize – $100 cash. 3rd prize – $50 cash.
For this challenge, you will need to create a catapult that will launch a penny the greatest distance. To make your catapult you can only use up to: 14 standard 4.5” popsicle sticks, 12 rubber bands of any kind, glue of any kind, and one plastic spoon not to exceed 7” in length. No other materials may be used.
Make this catapult ahead of time and present on the day of the festival for inspection and testing. You will have two chances to launch a penny on the day of the event and the best distance will be the one recorded.
No entry fee is required for this competition, but you must be a ticket holder for the Wilson Renaissance Festival for the day of March 12th or a weekend pass holder.
