ABOUT RELAXED RULES PERFORMANCES

A Relaxed Rules performance creates a more comfortable theater experience for audience members who may benefit from a less traditional setting. It’s especially welcoming for individuals with sensory sensitivities, autism, anxiety, or anyone who might find a typical theater environment a little tricky.

Here is what makes it special:
  • Gentler lights & sound – The house lights stay dim instead of going completely dark, and loud or sudden sounds are softened.
  • Move if you need to – Audience members can move around, make noise, or step out and come back in whenever needed. No problem!
  • No pressure to sit perfectly still – Reactions, giggles, whispers, and wiggling are all okay here. Because everyone deserves to enjoy the magic of theater. Even if they have a wiggly body.
  • Sensory Backpacks with headphones and fidget items are also available to check out at the Box Office if they would help make the experience more comfortable.
So if you know someone who might love a theater experience like this, please help spread the word. Anybody is welcome at any time, but some may just feel more comfortable at the Relaxed Rules show. We want everyone to feel welcome at the theater!

TARHEEL TALES is produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.

Auditions are set for Dec 2nd and 3rd with performances happening in rep with the concluding weekend of Starcatcher, February 1st and 2nd.
